Inside My Karry On

I get asked constantly what I do to make travel easier and how I stay so energetic and healthy while I’m constantly inside of a metal tube with people from around the world! First let me say, I’m not sure I’m always feeling great, but I do have a few tips that keep me on the move.  I hope to build this page out as a travel hack resource but I’ll start with the critical few in my Karry On.

After years of traveling, I’ve come to appreciate quality luggage.  It’s design, durability and mobility. In my opinion, nothing comes close to Tumi!  Yes, you will pay a bit more but since I’ve bought my Tumis I’ve not had to replace them on a regular basis like other brands I’ve bought.  3 years and still going strong with no repairs or replacements. When you see someone toting a Tumi, you are likely looking at  a road warrior because they know the difference!

I love these little tubes.  Ever been in a hotel bathroom shower with no shelf and nowhere to put your personal effects while you are in the shower?  Typically it’s slippery and you have to put your things on the floor and bend over…smirking as I type this…this is about a 9.5 degree of difficulty at “a certain age”!   Go Tubes help solve this risky dilemma! They are a bit more expensive than other travel bottles, but the real Go Tubes have little suction cups on the side of them.  Just wet the suction cup and stick them to the side of your shower. Love these little guys!

This is the most important thing in my Karry On, dare I say, the most important thing I do every day, taking Oxylent!  At one time, I could be found gulping down a handful of vitamins everyday.  Like say, 30 different pills.  As my travel really started to ramp up this became very cumbersome to manage so I visited my local vitamin store and asked them how I can reduce taking all these pills.  The store associate’s response was swift and decisive, “Oxylent, it’s a little spendy but it’s an award-winning vitamin for its absorption and has a full panel of vitamins, minerals and electrolytes”.  Done!  I bought my first box about 7 years ago and have been taking it, and touting it, ever since.  (Little secret, as an avid wine drinker, it needs to be noted, that since I started taking this amazing powder, I’ve not had a “morning after” ever since!) Tastes like a bubbly soda water.

There are places I’ve visited where eating greens might be a little risky, so to ensure that I get what my body needs, I take Organifi.  It’s not gritty, actually quite pleasant.  When I’m on the road I might mix it with my Oxylent in the morning.

A small shaker bottle for my vitamins and greens.  Obviously I don’t take full boxes of them with me but I stuff the packets into the shaker bottle when I pack and have them ready to go.

I can’t travel internationally without an adapter that has both the power converter and usb.  The one I have powers every device I have with me at one time!

I can drop this little guy in my backpack and it has about 24 hours of recharge-ability for my phone and iPad!

For the times I don’t bring my Smoove Stick or GoPro

Not all hotels have a gym, and if they do, typically it’s a treadmill and maybe a few dumbbells.  These little lightweight bands help me attempt to stay fit while I’m consuming foreign treats.  Perhaps in a future post I’ll show you how I use these with my trainer who taught me how!

I got tired of using Target bags and bought something designed for my shoes.  Love my shoes and love these bags!

Well, because I’m a girl of a certain age who won’t wear her glasses to put on her eye makeup!

I like to take my “tunes” with me but the sound on my phone doesn’t do the music justice.  Hence, my little speaker…I can take it anywhere!

What can I say, I like ambiance even when I’m on the road!
