People Not Just Places!

I seem to have a little theme going on right now. Posts on locations that are home to some very special people in my life. My previous post being Atlanta, home to one of my BFFs, and my upcoming posts on the Dallas Fort Worth area , home to another of my BFFs and a collection of other special characters…and I do mean characters. 🙂 As I’m thinking about this it occurs to me that it’s been entirely too long since I’ve spent time with these people. These are the kinds of friends that I can completely drop my guard and be myself with.  It’s therapeutic, reinvigorating and inspiring.  Why then do I wait so long?  Because it involves travel. It involves planning.  And with the speed of life, that can seem like a “daunting task” to work in to one’s schedule, even for a globe-trotter like myself. But it shouldn’t be. With that “life speed” I mentioned, I’ve allowed some priorities to slip down the food chain, one being, the investment into these special relationships. Yes, it does require the planning, time and cash, or in my case, points…but it’s the best investment one could ever make in themselves and those they’ve been divinely connected with.

I know my blog has typically focused on “bucket list” destinations but perhaps the bucket list, yours and mine,  should include visiting people, not just places.  Or maybe meeting those special people at a new place together.  Point being, who’s moved away from you due to work or family that you miss? Yes, social media can help keep you aware of their lives but there is nothing like the REAL Facetime in their home and surroundings to strengthen the connections and collaborate in each other’s lives. Think of it this way, this type of investment should be a part of your 401K planning…your people, not just your finances.

As you read this, who comes to mind? Where to they live? Might I suggest that you add them to your travel bucket list and make the investment. It will pay big dividends, both short-term and long-term!

Ps: these pictures capture some of my special peeps from my trips to Atlanta and Dallas.  Post for Dallas is forthcoming. You might notice that the pictures are dated.  Why?  Because we actually got so caught up in our time together that we forgot to take selfies!! Go figure!?
